Remarks: Commission 2466

There was a school of about this date in Reserve, demolished after a fire in 1952. Much of the foundation remains behind the Texaco service station. After inspecting the ruins, we had doubts that the school was the work of Trost & Trost.
The cornerstones were saved and are incorporated in a garden wall of a residence near the site of the school. The inscriptions are hortatory and give no indication of architect or date.

Catron County was created in 1921; prior to that, it was part of Socorro County.

Prepared for the El Paso Public Library by Lloyd C. and June F. Engelbrecht under a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, 1990
