Remarks: This design, with the two-story auditorium wing, is nearly identical to San Jon High School (NMSANJE.001). The size of the auditorium (probably doubling for a gym) indicates that the building was also meant to serve as a community center. The existing school was built in 1921 by J. C. Berry (1875-1950) of Amarillo, and is on the New Mexico Register of Cultural Properties.
Prepared for the El Paso Public Library by Lloyd C. and June F. Engelbrecht under a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, 1990
